Get Into: shesaid.so - Safety as a Community Practice
Thu 22 · 15:45 · Het Ketelhuis · Room 2 · Amsterdam
Speakers: Eva Santos (UPTAK), Youssef Ahmed Mahmoud (Club RAUM), Aynouk Tan (Rita Community) Moderator: Victória Mazzone de Castro (Vibe Lab) Safety in nightlife is not experienced equally. Identity, discrimination, previous experiences and the communities and spaces we move through can all shape whether someone feels safe, how they respond when something happens, and whether they feel able to report it. Designed for emerging DJs, producers, artists, promoters and other people building their place within electronic music, this conversation explores safety as a shared community practice. Moving between prevention, community care, technology and reporting, we’ll look at how we can think proactively about the people entering our spaces, look after ourselves and one another, use tools and technology to support safer environments, and create accessible pathways for support when harm or discrimination occurs. The guiding question is simple: How do we recognise and collectively create safer spaces?
