Sofia's Trip

Wed 21 · 18:00 · Uilenburgersjoel · Splendor · Amsterdam
This is not a regular concert. Come trip on the avant-garde sound world of Sofia Gubaidulina - the composer the Soviets tried to ban for being too radical - and the trance-ambient music of Soheil Shayesteh , live in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful hidden gems: the Uilenburgersjoel. Lay down. Let the sound move through the space and through you. There's no stage to face, no seat you're expected to sit still in - just a shifting, physical body of sound built to take you somewhere else, inside a 17th-century synagogue most of Amsterdam has never set foot in. The music itself moves in two directions at once. Gubaidulina's world is raw, confrontational, rooted in the physical - it pulls you down into the earth. Shayesteh's music reaches the other way, up toward something hypnotic and transcendent, closer to the heavens. Together they take you the whole way: from the earthly to the heavenly and back again, one continuous trip. Sofia's Trip is made by Lonelinoise , a platform for contemporary classical music that exists to break the genre out of its own habits - out of the concert hall, out of the silence-and-applause ritual, and into spaces and formats where the music can actually be felt. This is that idea taken all the way. Sofia's Trip. One night only at the Uilenburgersjoel. Thomas Dulfer | bassoon & duduk Soheil Shayesteh | kamancheh & live-electronics Sebastiaan Kemner | Conductor Lola Descours | bassoon Lidy Blijdorp | cello Ketevan Roinishvili | cello Emma Warmelink | cello Renée Timmer | cello Louis van der Mespel | double bass Jennifer Blom | double bass Dominique Chabot | double bass Francesca WIersma | viola Tobias Borsboom | piano

Opening Concert: KYBBA & Metropole Orkest + special guests

Wed 21 · 18:30 · Melkweg · RABO · Amsterdam
This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Amsterdam Dance Event. Marking 10 years of their collaboration, the Metropole Orkest and Melkweg are once again teaming up to host one of the opening concerts. The orchestra, conducted by Simon Dobson, will be joined by visionary producer, artist, and cultural architect Kybba. From the sun-drenched region of Salento in Italy to the heart of global club culture in Amsterdam, Kybba has evolved into a boundary-pushing producer and artist with deep roots in Jamaican and LATAM musical heritage. His influence stems mainly from the Basshall Movement, the platform founded in 2016 that grew into a global empire with Basshall Records, Basshall TV, and sold-out events, as well as a large online community centered around dancehall, afro, and Caribbean music. By combining dancehall with bass influences, Kybba scored international hits. ‘Colombian’ and ‘Pon Di Ting’ put him on the map, while ‘Ba Ba Bad’ (2024), featuring legendary Sean Paul and dancehall icon Busy Signal, further strengthened his global breakthrough. His debut mixtape ‘How You Bad Suh’ (2025), marked a defining moment in his career, featuring collaborations with artists including Barrington Levy, Bounty Killer, and Kalash. After a successful tour across iconic cities in North America and Europe, and the launch of his own two-day festival, Kybba now joins forces with the Metropole Orkest for a special tribute to the Basshall sound, reaffirming that music is the ultimate universal language. Elisa Zuppini - Disambiguation

Wed 21 · 19:00 · De Duif · Amsterdam
presented by WhyNot, Stadsherstel, and ADE Arts & Culture. 15 dancers explore the state of nightlife, post-clubbing. “Wonderful and devastating performance (…) Definitely the most impressive group work I saw in years.” Fransien van der Putt, dramaturg, theatre critic and author. Elisa Zuppini choreographs a system in which human perception converges with other-than-human agencies. Fifteen dancers form a pulsing structure, extending toward and withdrawing from the audience’s perceptual field. Like chthonic waves, they generate a hybrid circuit of sensation. Within the insomniac framework of post-clubbing, the dancers explore the effects and aftereffects of hedonistic nightlife. They perform through a dissociative state of depersonalization, allowing them to resource from something other than conditioned subjectivity. By inhabiting liminal and viscous spaces, the dancers explore multiple sensibilities, navigating the condition of metathreshold—a ceaseless transition in which boundaries dissolve, transformation occurs, and ambiguity itself sculpts tangible states. Accompanied by deconstructed melodies and industrial rhythms, a haunting gothic tendency emerges. Navigating a world erratically attempting to understand itself, Disambiguation reflects on collective agency and on how distributed cognition gives rise to a dramaturgy of affect. A second p erformance also takes place at 21:15 at De Duif Duration 50' Credits: Concept and choreography: Elisa Zuppini creation in collaboration with the performers Hannah Badura, Rowan van den Boomen, Tara Brügger, Lola Dupriez, Mandisa Gramelsberger, Katrina Gusca, Jieon Ko, Edward Lloyd, Maxine van Lishoet, Clémence Masakidi, Esteban Alejandro Obregon Moriano, Efua-Maria Raknerud Aikins, Jentel Schiettekatte, Envel Serazin, Ditte Toppet. Sound composition: Fabian Reichle, featuring original tracks by Lotic and BFRND dramaturgy Bruno Listopad. Costumes: Elisa Zuppini and Bruno Listopad. Lighting design: Martijn Smolders.
