Audio-Technica presents Hotaru:Analog:Ambient
Wed 21 · 12:00 · The Stargate · Amsterdam
Audio-Technica and The Stargate have joined up with guest selector Nina Yamada to present Hotaru:Analog:Ambient – an immersive multi-sensory event featuring Audio-Technica’s Hotaru turntable. Launched at Milan Design Week 2025, the Hotaru is the next step in the evolution of analog. The floating turntable's stylus reacts to the messages held deep in the record groove, uniting music and light into a unique experience. Nina Yamada will curate a collection of Japanese minimal, ambient and kanyõ ongaku records to guide the guests deeper into the listening experience, painting a truly one-of-a-kind deep listening scene. Inspired by the delicate glow of the firefly from which the Hotaru takes its name, this event echoes their fleeting beauty in a unique analog experience that will leave a long-lasting impression. As the needle gently touches the record, sound and light emerge, colouring the silence. Guests are invited to stand, sit or lie down in the round, for as much or as little time as they need to deeply connect with the music. Free entry. Sofia's Trip
Wed 21 · 18:00 · Uilenburgersjoel · Splendor · Amsterdam
This is not a regular concert. Come trip on the avant-garde sound world of Sofia Gubaidulina - the composer the Soviets tried to ban for being too radical - and the trance-ambient music of Soheil Shayesteh , live in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful hidden gems: the Uilenburgersjoel. Lay down. Let the sound move through the space and through you. There's no stage to face, no seat you're expected to sit still in - just a shifting, physical body of sound built to take you somewhere else, inside a 17th-century synagogue most of Amsterdam has never set foot in. The music itself moves in two directions at once. Gubaidulina's world is raw, confrontational, rooted in the physical - it pulls you down into the earth. Shayesteh's music reaches the other way, up toward something hypnotic and transcendent, closer to the heavens. Together they take you the whole way: from the earthly to the heavenly and back again, one continuous trip. Sofia's Trip is made by Lonelinoise , a platform for contemporary classical music that exists to break the genre out of its own habits - out of the concert hall, out of the silence-and-applause ritual, and into spaces and formats where the music can actually be felt. This is that idea taken all the way. Sofia's Trip. One night only at the Uilenburgersjoel. Crawler Presents: Your Death Is a Lullaby
Wed 21 · 19:30 · Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ · Amsterdam
Nothing Here Now and The Rest Is Noise present the live premiere of Crawler: Your Death Is a Lullaby at Muziekgebouw. This night will open with the performance of Coil in the foyer of the Muziekgebouw. Coil experiences itself as an amplification of an audio tactile sensation. With a speaker embedded in the hips and a microphone positioned at the top of the spine, Ciro and Koiri move a giant spring reverb through the room. Continuing with the night we open the Grote Zaal with the new collaborative project from 2K88 , Rainy Miller , and Bianca Scout , developed during an Unsound residency and released as Everything Always Changes, For We're Truly Here, which features Lauren Duffus, weaving hypnagogic R&B through half-remembered histories. The evening continues with Crawler , founded by Rachella Groen (Zohar) and Harry Castle, joined by writer Gervaise Alexis Savvias. The project asks who gets to be legible, and what it costs to insist on being otherwise, treating instability, fragility, and refusal as a queer politics rather than as failures of communication. Grief, desire, Blackness, and hauntology run throughout Gervaise's writing, positioning the body on stage as a site of contest rather than display. For this premiere, cellist Malou van der Veld and guitarist Rob Toal-Lennon join the core group, while Studio Basse Stitgen's live installation and Clint Soren's visuals extend Crawler's collective language into the spatial and visual dimensions of the performance. Closing the night is Nkisi , an electronic musician and composer rooted in the Congolese diaspora and African cosmologies. Co-founder of NON Worldwide, her research project The Anomaly Index explores rhythm and vibration as counter-epistemologies, while her live performance extends the ongoing Black Spells Series: sonic rituals of remembrance in which rhythm carries stories rather than merely decorating them. The project is part of Muziekgebouw Productiehuis and the ADE Arts & Culture. Explore more ADE Arts & Culture events at Muziekgebouw here .
Sonic Journey: The History of Electronic Dance Music
Wed 21 · 19:30 · Concertgebouw · Main Hall · Amsterdam
On ADE Wednesday - whether lying down or sitting up - embark on a musical journey through time. A musical story that begins in Jamaica, with music by artists such as Donna Summer, Grandmaster Flash, and Kraftwerk, and - via Frankie Knuckles and Juan Atkins - passes through Chicago and Detroit before finally ending in Europe, and thus also in Amsterdam. The evening will feature hosts and DJs Nathan Kofi and Derk Louwes . The event will be conducted in English. For this unique event, only the seats next to the stage and a limited number of spots to lie down on the stage itself will be sold. This means the stage is rotated 180 degrees compared to the normal setup at The Concertgebouw's Main Hall. Listening without distractions Through carefully selected tracks, sound fragments, and stories, Nathan Kofi and Derk Louwes make audible musical connections that you might not have noticed before: between styles and pioneers, from the roots of a genre to its influences on other music and cultures. Alongside the music and the story, you experience what it feels like to listen without distraction. This is becoming less and less commonplace, even though listening to music consciously can help you relax and be in the here and now, something many of us could use. Please bring your own mat if you wish to lie down. Important for ADE Pro Pass holders: A limited number of tickets for this concert have been reserved for ADE Pro Pass holders. The tickets will remain reserved until 15 minutes before the start of the concert (19:00 - 19:15). After that, the tickets will be released at the box office for other visitors. Please make sure you pick up your ticket on time by showing your ADE wristband at the ADE-desk in the entrance hall (address: Concertgebouwplein 10). First come, first serve; full = full.

RESONANCE: Listening to the Future
Thu 22 · 09:45 · The Stargate · Amsterdam
Venue information: This event was originally scheduled to take place at the Embassy of the Free Mind, but has been relocated to The Stargate. The Sanctuary Earth Foundation presents: Resonance - Listening to the Future. One conversation, five perspectives. The future we are trying to protect. The ritual of gathering around sound is as old as the species. It has survived war, plague, empire and prohibition. It has never survived being turned into a product. Are we the last stewards of what makes it work? Can the cities, technologies and spaces we build next protect it rather than consume it? 09:45 - 10:45 | Arriving Through Breath: 108 AUM, €15 A gentle guided meditation set to a specially curated Sonic Spheres composition. Before the first beat, we begin with the breath. Bianka Duka opens the day with breathwork and meditation, inviting visitors to leave the noise behind and arrive fully in their bodies, the space, and the moment. 12:30 - 13:30 & 13:30 - 14:30 | The Sanctuary Sessions: Empowerment, €15 Monica van der Meulen and Lasse Mosegard lead visitors through the Sonic Spheres, an immersive sound experience exploring whether sound can help us slow down, recalibrate, and reconnect. Each session begins with a short introduction, followed by the session using spatial audio and curated frequencies designed to support nervous system regulation and a sense of calm. Visitors experiencing sound as something felt throughout the body, not only heard. 14:30 - 15:30 | Resonance: Listening to the Future (indepth session), €35 Five distinctive voices from different disciplines share their knowledge, practice and vision, followed by an open conversation with the audience. How does sound shape consciousness, and how might emerging technologies extend the ways we listen, feel and experience the world? This session explores sound as a medium for investigating perception, memory and altered states. What is the therapeutic potential of psychoacoustics and archaeoacoustics? Connecting artistic practice with critical enquiry, the session asks whether sound can support enduring changes in attention, perception and behaviour: a movement from altered states towards altered traits. Speakers: Carl Hayden Smith (Museum of Consciousness), Natasha Stark, DJ Isis (Isis van der Wel), Pieter Smits van Waesberghe (Dragonfly Water Solutions), Carina Kornfeind.
