Listening Session & Bites with Disco Arabesquo

Wed 21 · 18:30 · Van Eesteren Museum · Amsterdam
What does a film sound like if you take away the visuals? During this special ADE listening session, DJ Disco Arabesquo dives into his collection of vinyl and cassettes, taking you into the world of Egyptian film music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. ‍ Expect unique soundtracks, hidden gems, and music you might recognize without knowing where you’ve heard it before. With this listening session, Disco Arabesquo shares his love for the music, the films, and the culture in which these sounds continue to live on outside the cinema.‍ In addition, Qibli Bahri will provide delicious Egyptian snacks , so you can dive into ADE with a well-filled stomach. You can also explore the exhibition Dreams of Films - Films of Dreams . Please note: we are keeping this event small and intimate, so don't wait too long to buy your tickets. The exhibition Dreams of Films - Films of Dreams is part of ADE Arts & Culture. Discover more about it at this link .

Rethinking Dance in Nightlife

Wed 21 · 18:30 · DB55 · Amsterdam
Lately we've observed fewer dancers on the dancefloor, fewer dancers hired or planned as part of an event's programming, and audiences standing facing the DJ with their phones out. What happened to dancing all night long, connecting to the music and to each other? Have we lost the essence of clubbing? This indepth session is organized in the context of The Better Move , a project supported by VibeLab . Its goal is to increase the employment of dance professionals in the nighttime economy, and integrate more movement-based, health-enhancing, and culturally rooted experiences into club programming. This event is donation-based. Would you like to support our work? You can donate via the QR code on the day of the event. Program: 18:30 doors open 19:30 Part 1: How big is the disconnection between dancers and clubs? What we observe nowadays. Featuring Polli Panda (dancer, DJ), Diego Oliveira (dancer), and Sophie Koffeman (Doka). 20:30 Part 2: Best practices and learnings from people in the space, featuring Nick V. from La Mona (Paris) and Lottie Horton (Defected Records) 21:00 Dance activation by Diego Oliveira 21:30 - 23:00 Tunes by Polli Panda There will be opportunities to ask questions during the talk.
