State OFFF

Thu 22 · 21:30 · Paradiso · Amsterdam
On the Thursday of ADE, the multi-talented artist presents a special A/V performance at Paradiso for the first time, titled Umzimba. Zimbabwe-born and Amsterdam-based DJ and producer State OFFF is rapidly emerging as a standout name in the international club scene. He blends influences from around the world, including São Paulo’s baile funk, Baltimore club, London bass, and Durban’s gqom , an energetic South African dance style known for its raw, syncopated rhythms. Fans know him for his productions, including his debut EP GQOM TODAY (2022), as well as performances at venues and festivals such as Parallel, Lente Kabinet Festival, Nyege Nyege, and Liquid Room in Edinburgh. During ADE, he presents his new A/V performance Umzimba. In this work, heavy percussion from live hardware sequencers interacts with a language model that translates sound into visuals. The piece explores a kind of “phantom experience” of a body under strain: sweat, fatigue, and exhaustion, even though no physical body is present. The result is a dialogue between analogue rhythm and digital intelligence, where sound becomes image and rhythm transforms into fragmented, poetic language.

Onda Forte - VIRA Open Deck Session

Thu 22 · 22:00 · Studio/K · Amsterdam
Onda Collective — VIRA Open Deck Session During VIRA , Onda Collective takes over the night at Studio/K . Onda is an Amsterdam-based DJ collective with Brazilian and Afro-Latin roots, bringing together different musical backgrounds and club cultures. Emerging from Amsterdam’s underground scene, Onda creates spaces where different people, bodies, and rhythms can come together. The name Onda means “wave” in Portuguese: a movement that carries energy forward, transforms, and keeps moving. The four artists of Onda move between Brazilian music, Afro-Latin rhythms, and international underground sounds. Co-founder Pedro da Mata combines heavy bass, percussive grooves, and baile funk with house and other club genres. Guiz draws from his background in funk and hip-hop and is known for his high-energy sets. AAlva explores the Brazilian and Latin American underground through funk, arrocha, brega, guaracha, drum & bass, and breakbeat. Co-founder Not Yet moves between garage, hard house, and Latin house. For VIRA, this musical mix is at the heart of the experience. The evening creates a meeting point between Brazilian and Dutch club culture and connects to VIRA’s broader theme: the connection between Amsterdam and Brazil through music, art, identity, and nightlife. Expect an evening where genres flow into one another, the dancefloor takes centre stage, and the energy keeps moving. Alongside the DJ sets, a VJ programme brings Brazilian and Dutch visual elements together to enhance the experience.
