Polish folk refracted through electronics and live percussion
Based in Warsaw, Poland
They work with oberek and other Polish dance forms, but the pulse is stretched and blurred by synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and sampled fragments. Expect a set that moves between ritual repetition and tighter, trancey rhythmic figures, with the traditional material pushed deep into texture rather than left on the surface.
Opla are Piotr Bukowski and Hubert Zemler, both active in Warsaw’s improvised and experimental circles. Bukowski’s Bandcamp page places him around Labo abc and projects like Hokei, Xenony, Javva and Stworywodne, which fits Opla’s way of moving folk material through a more downtown experimental frame.
