Dawuna
R&B and hip-hop, lensed through lo-fi memory haze
Based in Baltimore, US
His records sit in slow-burn R&B and rap forms, with close-mic vocals, warped synths, and loose drum programming wrapped in tape haze. Expect songs that feel intimate and fragmentary rather than club-leaning, with bass, harmonies, and ghosted textures doing most of the work.
More about Dawuna
Ian Mugerwa records as Dawuna from Baltimore, and his Bandcamp bio and release notes tie the project to a diasporic Black-music frame rather than a fixed genre lane. He broke through with self-released material before moving to projects like 'Naya', 'Southside Bottoms', and the 2026 pre-order album 'Love's Arp'.
