Editor and writer on underground music under socialism
Based in Leipzig, Germany
This is a discussion appearance, not a performance set. Expect a spoken panel around informal music cultures under non-democratic regimes, with a focus on how underground scenes moved between resistance, survival, nationalism, and reaction.
Pehlemann was born in East Berlin in 1969 and has worked across punk, art history, editing, curation, publishing, and DJ/dub mixing. He has run Zonic since 1993, co-organised Kulturny Dom Lipsk/Salon Similde in Leipzig since 2009, and the Unsound session puts him in dialogue with Lucia Udvardyová and Daniel Muzyczuk around the book Unearthing the Music.
