Twilit Americana and dream-pop built around Cate Osborne’s dusky voice
Based in New York City, United States
Osborne sings in a low, dusky register over twanging guitars, hazy synths, fuzzy reverb and steady Velvet Underground-style chug. Expect a full-band rendering of Rockie: restrained and nocturnal, with shoegaze distortion surfacing around the album’s country inflections.
Rockie Rode comes from New York’s AM Radio Collective, working alongside Izzy Goldbow and Samba Jean-Baptiste. Osborne produced throughout her 13-track debut Rockie, turning its title persona into a vehicle for songs about romance, fame and bruised glamour.
During quarantine, Osborne recorded in the basement of her grandmother's house and called it the best place she had ever recorded.
