Intimate mutant disco assembled from four decades of unfinished songs
Based in Champaign, United States · From Scotland
Steven Hall moves between softly sung bedroom confessionals, jangling or improvised guitar, programmed drums, round disco bass, keyboards, harmonica and occasional field recordings. The set is likely to draw heavily from My Skyscraper, where Paradise Garage propulsion sits beside minimalist sketches and exposed folk songwriting.
Hall moved from Scotland into downtown New York’s early-1980s art and music network, becoming Arthur Russell’s friend, neighbour and close collaborator. He later played in Arthur’s Landing and founded Buddhist Army; ULYSSA’s excavation of his tape archive finally placed his own songwriting at the centre of that history.
After My Skyscraper found a new audience in 2026, Hall was able to quit driving for Uber.
