Two brothers splicing radio-rock hooks with samples and rap cadences
Mackeeper set cracked guitars, clipped samples, trap-derived drums, Auto-Tuned falsettos and shouted pop choruses inside short, restless arrangements. Believe You Me expands the porch-recorded looseness of Rock Candy into a live set that jumps between radio-rock weight and deliberately crooked digital pop.
Brothers Miles Cohen and Nick Harwood grew up in Maryland’s Washington suburbs but now work between New York and Los Angeles. Miles came through rock bands while Nick DJed, wrote songs and directed visual work; their collision has placed Mackeeper in New York’s genre-agnostic indie-pop orbit, with releases through In Real Life Music and support from Blood Orange and Porches.
When Miles Cohen was four, Nick Harwood made an “In Da Club”-style beat and recorded his little brother rapping over it as DJ White Shadow.
