Midtempo tape loops, piano and off-kilter drums support Dhani Harrison’s layered, spectral voice, with electric guitars and David Campbell’s strings supplying scale. In Paris, the studio duo expands into a full band with Joey Waronker, Nick Valensi and Maurice Talbot, giving the album’s measured rhythms more physical weight.

More about Dragonflies

Dragonflies developed after Harrison asked longtime friend Nigel Godrich for perspective on his 2023 solo album Innerstanding; their sessions continued at Godrich’s Brixton studio and were recorded on 24-track tape. The project puts one of alternative rock’s defining producers inside the band alongside Harrison, then connects them to Waronker and Valensi for the stage lineup.

A story

After the band formed, Harrison said one particular giant green dragonfly kept following him around Friar Park and even appeared during a sound-healing session.
