Manchester urban dub dissolving into voices, strings and weathered ambience
From United Kingdom
Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang build slow, bass-heavy environments from blurred dialogue, rainlike static, strings, hazy guitars and submerged techno percussion. The Quiet Storm material adds soprano, violin, rap and fragmented R&B voices, making this likely to feel closer to a live film score than a conventional club set.
Space Afrika formed in Manchester and now operate between Manchester and Berlin, drawing on Northwest England's industrial landscape and the experimental community around venues such as The White Hotel. Their Dais albums connect dub techno's spatial logic with Northern Black British experience, field recording and collaborative composition.
Honest Labour was named after a patriarch in Joshua Inyang's Nigerian family who carried that nickname for his loyalty and resilience.
