Live cameras and electronic composition locked into one responsive system
Nosaj Thing supplies low-lit electronic composition, clipped beats, sub-bass and finely suspended melodic material; Manabe turns cameras, computation and custom visual systems into active musical components. The new show lets sound and image reshape each other in real time, moving between tightly programmed passages and live improvisation.
Los Angeles producer Jason Chung and Tokyo artist-programmer Daito Manabe began working together on the 2012 “Eclipse/Blue” video and expanded the partnership with the 2016 No Reality tour. Their 2026 single “LXR,” released through Chung’s Timetable imprint, is their first music issued under both names and anchors this new collaborative AV production.
For the 2016 No Reality tour, Manabe built real-time 3D-scanning visuals and moving lights; they debuted it at Coachella and played five shows in four cities.
