Speculative plastisphere organs imagining evolution after oceanic plastic saturation
Based in San Diego, United States · From Turkey
This is gallery-scale bioart rather than a music set, combining anatomical sculpture, architectural installation, video and sound. Its imagined organs give the plastisphere the clinical clarity of a natural-history display while turning plastic pollution into an evolutionary design problem.
Pınar Yoldaş works between biological science, architecture and digital media and is an associate professor of visual arts at UC San Diego. First presented at Berlin's Ernst Schering Project Space in 2014, this long-running project helped establish her speculative-biology practice and was developed with plastisphere researcher Linda Amaral-Zettler.
