The Earwurms
Amsterdam conceptual punk with art-school bite
Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Short, serrated songs with wiry guitars, punchy rhythm section work, and shouted/sung vocals that keep shifting between deadpan and a sneer. Their newer recordings pull rock and alternative forms toward experimental edges without losing the verse-chorus skeleton.
More about The Earwurms
They formed out of the Montessori Lyceum of Amsterdam and moved through Dutch DIY and activist stages, with visuals and outfits treated as part of the project. Their releases sit on Amsterdam-area indie DIY labels like Geertruida and Correct Cassettes, which fits the band’s scene-first, small-rooms energy.
A story
Their first studio album was recorded at Schenk Studio at the end of 2024, after crowdfunding and subsidized funding made it possible.
