Shinobue improvisation, live-processed by Koshiro Hino
Based in Japan
Rai Tateishi plays shinobue, with shakuhachi, flute and percussion in the mix on Presence. The set is stripped of overdubs and shaped in real time by Koshiro Hino’s processing, so expect breathy flute lines, brittle attacks, ring-mod grit and long, reverberant decay.
Tateishi is a shinobue player and member of goat, working inside the Japanese improvised-minimal/folk-leaning experimental scene around Koshiro Hino’s NAKID orbit. Presence was recorded by Hino over three days, and the release frames Tateishi’s playing as a solo language built from extended wind technique and close studio processing.
