Poet-journalist opening with live spoken word
From Jerusalem, Occupied Palestine
A poetry performance, not a music set: voice-forward, direct, and built around cadence and spoken-line impact. Expect tightly drawn reading rather than accompaniment or performance art gloss.
El-Kurd is a Palestinian writer, poet, journalist, and organizer from Sheikh Jarrah in occupied East Jerusalem. He is The Nation’s first-ever Palestine correspondent, editor-at-large at Mondoweiss, and the author of Rifqa and Perfect Victims and the Politics of Appeal, published by Haymarket Books in 2025.
At 11, his family home in Sheikh Jarrah was taken over by armed Israeli settlers.
