Dub history talk with Richard Akingbehin and guests
A discussion, not a performance: history, politics and studio practice around dub, with the focus on sound system culture, colonial afterlives and the way dub turned the mix into a political tool. Expect references to roots reggae, dub poetry, production technique and the community side of the form.
This Le Guess Who? session is led by Richard Akingbehin, co-founder of Berlin radio station Refuge Worldwide and founder of Kynant Records. The panel includes Jamaican producer Gavsborg, London-based interdisciplinary artist and educator Linett Kamala, and performer and activist Black Omolo, all coming at dub from different parts of the culture.
