Cellist-singer with a new cinematic art-pop record
Based in London, United Kingdom · From Charlotte, United States
Kelsey Lu’s set sits between cello-led songcraft and studio-built atmosphere. Expect hushed vocal lines, bowed strings, programmed drum patterns and electronic haze, with moments that open into bigger pop-shaped hooks and choral lift. The new material around So Help Me God leans cinematic rather than clubby, with light and shadow moving across the arrangements.
Lu comes out of the New York art-pop orbit but the work is broader than that: performance, healing activism, image and score all sit in the same practice. They have long treated collaboration as part of the work, and the project has moved through film, fashion and contemporary art as much as through records. The current album is So Help Me God, released in 2026.
