Arsenal Mikebe ft. HHY & Valentina Magaletti
Kampala percussion ensemble with HHY and Valentina Magaletti
Based in Kampala, Uganda
Acoustic percussion pushed into machine-like patterns: metallic strikes, tight polyrhythms, and dense physical attack. With HHY added, the live version pushes closer to the record’s pressure-cooker feel, with synth haze and extra low-end weight around the drum system.
More about Arsenal Mikebe ft. HHY & Valentina Magaletti
Arsenal Mikebe are a Kampala percussion unit tied to Nyege Nyege’s broader East African experimental axis. DRUM MACHINE reframes TR-808 logic with custom steel percussion, and the live trio format adds Jonathan Uliel Saldanha’s HHY pressure plus Valentina Magaletti’s distinctive drumming.
A story
The album is framed around a custom-built steel percussion system inspired by the Roland TR-808.
