amz
South African-rooted club rhythms, femme voices and bass-heavy storytelling
Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands
amz moves between amapiano and gqom percussion, dub-weighted low end, club edits and vocal-led anthems. Her sets favor narrative turns and emotional or nostalgic songs over seamless, functional mixing; in o3o’s afternoon program, expect the softer and stranger edges of that approach to surface too.
More about amz
South African-born and Amsterdam-based, amz co-founded the platform1 collective and hosts the Femme FM radio series on Stranded FM. Her selections foreground femme voices, emerging artists and music from South Africa, connecting Amsterdam’s community-radio circuit with bass-heavy club forms.
