Buchla ambient woven from field recordings, natural textures and processed voices
Based in Turin, Italy · From Italy
Berts layers Amazonian and woodland field recordings with Buchla Easel tones, processed voices and softly shifting effects. Her pieces are slow and pulse-light but animated by insect-like movement, warped natural textures and sudden synthetic flickers; the live set is built for close listening.
A Turin composer and sound artist trained in sound engineering at SAE Institute Milan, Berts has also worked as a sound designer at Scuola Holden. Her catalogue connects Turin collective Gang of Ducks with Osaka ambient label Muzan Editions, while performances at MUTEK place her field-recording practice in an international experimental circuit.
She gathered Ayni's field recordings during three months in the Peruvian Amazon in 2019, then recorded its Buchla Easel parts in Italy during the 2020 lockdown.
