Computer composition, fractured beats and amplified sound-design collage
Based in Turin, Italy
Francesco Ameglio's Guybrush project cuts drones, digital crunch, field-like fragments, train clatter and synthetic vowel tones into short, jump-cut compositions. His setup centres on computers and sometimes guitar amplifiers, making this likely to be a live collage with sudden rhythmic and textural turns.
Ameglio studied at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, then worked in Paris, Montreal and Madrid as a sound designer for interactive media and video games before returning to Turin. He co-founded SØVN Records in 2015 and also works with the Turin game-audio collective Settete.
The 27 cassette copies of Incandenza were individually embedded in foam cut from one larger block.
