Sonja Moonear
Genevan minimal-house DJ, Ruta5 label head
Based in Geneva, Switzerland · Plays most in London, Ibiza, Berlin
Tight, stripped-back house and intimate techno with a lot of room around the kick. Her own SoundCloud uploads and mix copy point to rolling basslines, sparse percussion and long, controlled developments rather than obvious drops.
More about Sonja Moonear
She came up through Geneva's underground and Weetamix, then became a regular on international circuits in the early 2000s. The bio and current pages also put her at Ruta5, which she runs, and note her place in the minimal wave alongside labels and crews like Perlon and collaborations such as Junction SM with Dandy Jack.
A story
Ruta5's sixth release was a vinyl-only 12" limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. In their own words
