REO MATSUMOTO
Hybrid handpan DJ set with beatbox and percussion
Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands · From Tokyo, Japan · Plays most in Tokyo, Amsterdam, Chubu
This set folds handpan, flute, beatboxing, and percussion into a DJ/live format. It leans toward tribal house, organic house, and deep groove, with rolling low end and room for the live instruments to breathe.
More about REO MATSUMOTO
REO Matsumoto is based between Amsterdam and Tokyo and works as a handpan player, electronic producer, DJ, human beatboxer, music director, and event organizer. He started out as a beatboxer, won the Japan BeatBox Championship in 2011, and co-founded Matsumoto Zoku in 2012; his own site also places him in the Amsterdam/Tokyo handpan circuit and says he began with jazz, classical, and recorder before moving into beatbox and electronic music.
