Alan Abrahams’ ambient live set for de Thomaskerk
Based in Paris, France
This is a live Portable set from Alan Abrahams, not the Nigerian singer. Expect long-form ambient passages, warm low-end, and grainy synth figures, with his voice and piano showing up in the orbit of the arrangement rather than on top of a club mix. The RA-archived live material leans intimate and meditative, more room-filling drift than four-to-the-floor propulsion.
Abrahams came up in South Africa, moved to London in the late 1990s, then settled in Paris. He has released as Portable and Bodycode on Perlon, Live At Robert Johnson, Süd Electronic and !K7, and RA has long tracked him as a live act; his 2024 RA Mix of the Day was billed as ‘African ambient live’.
He publicly accused his business partner Kogbagidi of scamming him in an artist-management deal. Source
