Live AV sets driven by plant biofeedback and field sound
Based in United Kingdom
Live sets built from biosignals, field recordings, and synth processing rather than club-grid momentum. Expect slow build-ups, tactile environmental noise, and light-led AV pacing; more installation logic than DJ flow. The music is usually framed as a live performance where the visuals and spatial sound are part of the instrument.
Joseph Dean works under Natural Symphony, and the project sits in the space between live AV, installation, and eco-acoustics. He’s linked here with EarthSonic / In Place of War and has been presented alongside Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll and Coldcut’s Matt Black at NXT Museum, which puts him in a climate-art and media-activist context rather than a standard festival slot.
He runs Seeds of Sound, which pairs recording work in the Amazon with support for Indigenous communities and reforestation. In their own words
