Detroit’s Underground Resistance era is the core of his reputation, and Axis Records has been his long-running base for solo work since 1992. He matters because his records and DJ sets helped define the harder, futurist end of Detroit techno, while his label gave him a way to keep the catalogue controlled and distinct.
