Egyptian Lover
West Coast electro-rap architect and DJ
Based in Los Angeles, USA · Plays most in London, Los Angeles, New York City
Funked-up drum-machine electro with sharp vocoder lines, breakdance-friendly snares, and rap hooks on top. Expect 808 pressure, stripped bass, and the kind of set that leans hard on his early-’80s material like 'Egypt, Egypt' and 'Computer Love'.
More about Egyptian Lover
Greg Broussard built Egyptian Lover out of the Los Angeles electro-rap scene and the Uncle Jamm’s Army orbit. His own labels — including Egyptian Empire and Freak Beat — helped keep that West Coast sound in circulation, and his early records still get cited by producers from outside the original scene.
A story
He says he sells vinyl because he is a DJ, but also for future DJs to play. In their own words
