Deejames
Veteran house DJ from disco and funk roots
Based in Essex, United Kingdom · Plays most in Ghent, All, Antwerp
Straight-ahead house with a disco, funk and soul foundation. His own description is simple—house music, full stop—and the archive on his SoundCloud and Mixcloud shows a long-running taste for rhythmic, vocal, club-friendly sets rather than polished crossover edits.
More about Deejames
Dee James started DJing in 1985 and moved into house after listening to Jazzy M’s The Jackin Zone in 1986-87. He has played a long list of UK club nights and venues, including Club UK, Mambo in Ibiza, Cream and a long residency at Club Warehouse, which puts him in the older UK house circuit rather than the current festival-house lane.
A story
He says hearing Jazzy M’s The Jackin Zone in 1986-87 pushed him from disco and funk into house. In their own words
